World Book Week

Date: 5th Mar 2023 @ 11:22am

Hello Year 3

Just a little update...

In the last few days we all have been very busy!

We began last week with a virtual meet with the author Stephen Pass, who spoke to the children and told them  all about his book, Madge the Mermaid.

Following this the children enjoyed using their imagination and writing skills, to write an alternative ending to Chapter 3 from his book.  We had a a variety of endings!

We then started this week with our Spring Assessments, which the children gave their full attention too, showing us all their knowledge and skills they have been learning.

On Thursday - World Book Day - the children and staff turned up to school looking amazing as book characters. It was fun seeing all the different characters about the school -

We were in the company of: Harry Potter; Little Red riding Hood; Wednesday; Robin Hood and many, many more... I even spotted a couple of, Where's Wally!  Fun was had by

all.

The next day - Friday - we  were visited  by two authors, Rachel Guy and Tirion Martins, famous for writing,  'Pinecones In My Pocket'.

They provided workshops for the children on how to be an author. They spent time chatting to the children and answering questions.

The children were so inspired they used their imaginations to create their own characters from natural resources. This then encouraged them all to all bebudding authors,

writing their own story, storyboard or a Diary extracts - It was a very busy but fun filled day.

You never know, we may have a famous future author in Year 3!

A BIG THANK YOU, to all the children and to all of you - the parents/cares - for the support you give in making these events memorable.

(Pictures will be in our Year 3 Gallery).
