Redcastle Family School Governing Board Annual Statement 2025–26
The 2025–26 academic year concluded with significant changes to governance at Redcastle Family School. Following the resignation of the previous Chair, an Interim Chair was appointed in May 2026, and several new governors joined the Board, bringing a broad range of skills and experience.
To strengthen governance and support new governors in their roles, the Board established three working groups covering Curriculum and Standards, Attendance and Vulnerable Groups, and Finance and Premises. These groups have begun undertaking monitoring activities, helping governors develop a stronger strategic understanding of the school and its priorities.
During the summer term, governors reviewed key areas including safeguarding, attendance, finance, health and safety and school improvement.
The Board recognises that governance is still developing. Priorities for 2026–27 include embedding the new monitoring structure, completing governor training and continuing to strengthen governance oversight.
Governor's Report - September 2026
Once again, the pupils and staff of Redcastle Family School, ended the academic year celebrating their many successes.
Year 6 achieved excellent results in the SATs tests, maintaining the school ‘s position in the top 10% in Norfolk and well above the National average. The class had spent an exciting, if somewhat chilly, week at the coast in February and this proved to be the highlight of their year.
The school has continued to expand its provision and is able to offer a further 16 places to pupils with identified SEND. This has widened the catchment area and increased the flow of taxis! The pupils attending the SRB and the SHIP are integrated into the school and very quickly feel part of the community.
Another area of expansion has been the opening of the nursery provision to 2 year olds. The bid for funding was unsuccessful, but the interest the proposal had generated identified the need and the proposal became reality. The work undertaken to improve the facilities had to be accomplished from within the school budget and resources were gathered from various cupboards! A charitable grant helped with outdoor equipment.
The school is very fortunate to move into the new school year with a stable staff and, after a difficult year in recruiting governors, with a new governing body of 10 people.
The parents and the local community continue to support the school in all its activities and through generous fund raising - these make a real difference for the pupils .
The Governing Board would like to thank all governors, past and present, for their commitment and contribution during a year of change. We also extend our thanks to the Headteacher, leadership team and staff for their continued support. The Board is pleased that pupil outcomes remain very strong and would like to particularly thank all staff and children for their hard work, dedication and achievements throughout the year.
