Welcome to Year 3!

I am very excited to be starting the year with you.

Homework Expectations

Reading

You are expected to read a few pages of your reading book every weekday and record this in your reading record.
In Year 3 we are focusing on understanding what we read. I want you to think deeply about books, make inferences and predictions, explain your ideas and use clues from the text to support your answers!

Try talking about your book with someone at home. Ask yourself: Why did that happen? How do I know? What might happen next? How is the character feeling?

Reading books that have been finished will be changed on Wednesdays by our class TA, Skas. If you finish your book sooner, just ask Skas in the morning and she will be happy to change it on another day where possible. If you have finished, feel free to read and record a few pages from a book you have at home.

Maths

You are expected to complete 2 times-table wheels each day. Our focus times tables in Year 3 are the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. You should also make sure that your 2, 5 and 10 times tables from Year 2 are secure. I will send home your Times Tables Rock Stars login incase you ever want to play this at home!
